This position is full-time, Monday – Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends. The flexibility to work evening hours will also be required.

External candidates can enjoy the flexibility to work remotely within the District of Columbia while Internal candidates can work remotely from anywhere within the US.

All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the DC LTSS (long term support services) population
• Manage the intake of members or the admission/discharge information post notification
• Work with hospitals, clinics, facilities and the clinical team to manage requests for services
• Receive inbound calls from members needing to reach various staff and points of contact
• Routes calls as appropriate
• Resolve inquiries from members and/or providers
• Part of the challenge here is dealing positively with members and providers in sometimes challenging circumstances. As a subject matter expert, you’ll also be the “go-to” resource for information. The flexibility to work evening hours will also be required.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
• 6+ months of Medicaid experience
• 6+ months of call center experience
• 6+ months of experience in healthcare or customer service
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook (ability to create, copy, edit, send, and save documents and emails) and Microsoft Excel (manipulate data, move columns and rows, remove data, match data between spreadsheets)
• Ability to type 25-30 WPM
• Ability to work Monday through Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm EST including the flexibility to work occasional overtime per business need

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with health care insurance
• Experience in a hospital, physician’s office or medical clinic setting

Telecommuting Requirements:

• Reside within the District of Columbia
• Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
• Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
• Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
