Argo currently has a challenging opportunity in its New York, NY office, with potential for remote for the right candidate, as a Surety Underwriter on its Portfolio Management Team. As a Surety Underwriter on the Portfolio Management Team, you will underwrite, administer and service existing contract accounts and new business as requested by the Contract Surety Underwriting Field Team. Additionally, you will interact and collaborate with the Portfolio Management Team on surety operations projects geared toward the proactive monitoring of Argo’s book of business.
Responsibilities:
Use business acumen to gather and review information on financial conditions, risk exposure, loss history and economic trends, providing recommendations on annual account renewals and new business submissions
Make quick decisions consistent with Argo’s requirements and standards within necessary timeframes
Assist with overall portfolio review and analysis as needed, specifically coordinating with the Team Lead, Portfolio Management
Accountable for accurate underwriting and documentation in account management system and adherence to documentation standards
Collaborate with a team of colleagues on data driven surety operations projects supporting and informing field and upper management decision-making
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent
1-3 years credit analyst or surety underwriting experience, required
Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles and the ability to demonstrate sound business judgment in the evaluation of financial condition, credit history, experience, and character of account relationships
Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as attention to detail
Ability to work independently and juggle many tasks simultaneously in addition to comfortably interacting with people in small groups and social situations
The base salary range provided below will be commensurate with candidate experience. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.
New York City Pay Range:
$108,800-$135,400 USD
