About the Role

As the Strategy and Operations Lead, Employment at Pursuit, you will shape and oversee comprehensive programming for Fellows’ interview readiness and independent job searches. You will take ownership of activating the Pursuit network to connect Fellows to employment opportunities while setting, tracking, and reporting on metrics related to Fellow job search outcomes and activities. Leveraging your experience hiring and managing high-performing teams in top-tier companies, you’ll set the bar for job readiness and oversee a team of managers and coaches to ensure Fellows meet that bar and persist throughout their job search. Your leadership will be instrumental in empowering Fellows for success in their job searches and you will have the opportunity to see firsthand the impact of your work on the lives of our Fellows and their families.

As the Strategy and Operations Lead, Employment you will:

• Develop and oversee programming to keep Fellows engaged with Pursuit throughout their job search, ensuring successful outcomes through independent job searches.
• Scope, structure, and manage the Employment team, ensuring clarity of roles and goals to enable effective program delivery.
• Lead the activation of Pursuit’s network, project managing Pursuit’s One Big Team (staff, volunteers, Board members, and alumni) to facilitate valuable connections and job pathways for Fellows.
• Establish and monitor metrics for Fellow Job Search, including outcomes and activity tracking,
• Create a Center of Excellence for Job Search, covering areas such as resume review, cover letters, industry fluency, public speaking, and networking.
• Gather feedback from internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in our readiness bar and approach to job search.
• Manage the interview preparation process for all employer partnerships, ensuring Fellows are well-prepared for successful interviews.

What you need to be considered for Strategy and Operations Lead, Employmentrole:

• 8+ years of professional experience with specific experience at companies similar to those that hire Pursuit fellows .
• Experience in managing teams with a clear emphasis on achieving outcomes, with the ability to motivate and guide individuals toward success.
• Demonstrated ability to set and maintain a high standard for work quality, ensuring all team members adhere to these standards.
• Proven track record in overseeing programs from their initial stages through successful completion.
• Understanding of how social capital and networks can be leveraged for job attainment.
• Systematically collects and reviews data regularly, leveraging insights to make informed decisions and gauge the success of various endeavors.
• Experience in hiring top talent for high-performing technology, corporate, or startup companies, either in a hiring manager capacity or as a key member of the internal HR team.
• Adaptability and willingness to pivot in a dynamic environment.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Strong alignment with Pursuit’s mission.

Where you’ll work:

• This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days/ week on-site in our Long Island City HQ

When you’ll work:

• Pursuit’s hours are 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Attendance at evening and weekend events may be required for this role as needs arise

Salary & Benefits:

Total compensation for this role is $140,000 – $180,000 annually.

The compensation range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
