Job Title: Senior Distinguished Applied Researcher

Team Description:
The AI Foundations team is responsible for bringing our vision for AI at Capital One to life. We work with product, technology, and business leaders to apply the latest AI advancements to our business.

Role Description:
As a Senior Distinguished Applied Researcher, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop AI-powered products that transform how customers interact with their money. You will leverage a wide range of technologies to analyze and extract insights from large volumes of data. As a respected industry leader, you will represent Capital One in the research community and collaborate with faculty members.

Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to develop AI-powered products.
– Utilize technologies like Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, and others to analyze large volumes of data.
– Build AI models from design to implementation.
– Engage in applied research to improve customer experiences.
– Translate complex technical work into tangible business goals.

– Experience with large-scale model development and delivering code to existing products.
– Track record of research accomplishments in machine learning.

Basic Qualifications:
– Ph.D. with at least 6 years of experience in applied research or M.S. with at least 8 years of experience in applied research.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
– Experience and expertise in areas such as NLP, behavioral models, optimization, finetuning, or data preparation.

Salary:
Please refer to the salary range per location listed below. Part-time roles will be prorated accordingly.
– New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $368,000 – $420,000 for Sr. Distinguished Applied Researcher
– San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-site): $389,900 – $444,900 for Sr. Distinguished Applied Researcher
