Job Title: Senior Director, Software Engineering – DevOps & SRE

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States

Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead our talented teams in delivering game-changing technologies. We are looking for someone who can attract and recruit the best talent in the industry and has the technical expertise to ensure customer-centric solutions.

As a candidate for this role, you should be capable of engaging in high-level strategic discussions as well as diving deep into technology with engineers. You should have a natural curiosity for emerging trends and be willing to prototype new technologies. We value your ability to question existing processes and solutions while keeping a focus on business value.

The Sr. Director will be responsible for managing the cloud infrastructure for the Mobile Platform and its associated services in AWS. This is a significant role in one of the largest and most digitally advanced financial institutions serving millions of customers across multiple lines of business.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree
– At least 9 years of software development experience
– At least 7 years of people management experience
– At least 5 years of experience with AWS
– At least 3 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

Preferred Qualifications:
– Master’s Degree
– 13+ years of software development experience
– 8+ years of experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP)
– 8+ years of experience in Agile practices
– 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

Responsibilities:
– Influence executive stakeholders
– Lead, manage, and grow teams of software engineers, fostering a culture of accountability
– Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers
– Work with product leaders to define strategy and roadmap
– Manage a portfolio of technology platforms and projects
– Improve software engineering practices
– Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions
– Ensure craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions
– Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor other engineers
– Encourage innovation, diversity, and teamwork

Salary Information:
– New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $315,100 – $359,700 for Sr. Director, Software Engineering
– San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $333,900 – $381,000 for Sr. Director, Software Engineering

Note: Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on agreed-upon hours.
