The nonprofit news organization WhoWhatWhy is looking for a Search Engine Optimization Specialist to help us achieve higher ranking search engine results and grow our audience. ExpectationsYou will work remotely and on your own schedule, though we require a minimum commitment of 6-10 hours a week. Because our staff is spread throughout the world, we communicate mostly through email. You must confirm your understanding that this is a volunteer position.ResponsibilitiesSEO strategy for both short-term and long-term successOptimizing copy and landing pages for search engine optimization. Develop/maintain keyword mapping – performing ongoing keyword research including discovery and expansion, assigning relevant keywords to website pages to optimize on-page search engine optimization.Researching and implementing content recommendations for organic SEO success.Daily monitoring of on-site and off-site SEO factors that impact qualified lead generation across tacticsCreate and maintain SEO project timelines and results (keyword rankings, local rankings, ORM cleanup)Outreach and link building, including sponsorships, education, blogs, etc.Competitor analysis, industry research, and up-to-date SEO best practice for algorithm and UX/UI changesReporting and analysis using SEO tools and staying abreast of and adopting best technology stronglyWork with team members to satisfy all aspects of SEO research and growthQualificationsAt least 2 years experience in content marketing, content growth and SEO.Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills. Leverage data to make intelligent, actionable business decisionsA creative mindset towards analyses of how we can get our content out to more readersCan collaborate with team members at all levels to ensure projects are consistent with best practices, compliance and overall project goals, as well as work independently, in a virtual environment.Extraordinary attention-to-detail. Excellent oral and written communication skillsBachelor’s degree or equivalent.
