Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Early Childhood and Elementary Literacy will work with KIPP Foundation teammates and KIPP schools across the country to ensure that KIPP students in grades K-4 develop the foundational literacy skills required to guarantee their success on the path to and through college, career, and beyond. The Senior Manager, Early Childhood and Elementary Literacy will work collaboratively with KIPP Network leaders to ensure every elementary literacy classroom delivers world-class instruction. This is a new role within the organization and offers tremendous leadership opportunity for a person with deep foundational literacy knowledge.

The Senior Manager reports to the Early Childhood and Elementary Literacy Director. The Senior Manager will manage the experience of incoming professional learning cohorts and support professional development for the broader elementary literacy community throughout the year. He/she/they is/are a member of the K-8 Academics Team and work collaboratively within the Academics and Talent Team.

This is a full time, exempt position and will be required to travel to schools and regions.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

• Build regional capacity: Develop and lead high-quality professional learning experiences on early literacy for new and experienced teachers and regional leaders.
  • Support the development and implementation of tools and resources for both teachers and leaders to support research-based approaches to K-4 literacy instruction
  • Support leaders and teachers in building the necessary content knowledge to effectively implement world-class, research-based literacy instruction, including by leading professional learning communities
  • Leverage knowledge of research-based literacy assessments to analyze student-level literacy data and coach leaders and teachers in making decisions based on the data.
• Stakeholder Communication and Management: Ensure stakeholders are communicated with regularly and the process is tight and connected. Orchestrate working group meetings, develop agendas, and facilitate conversations among working group members and other key stakeholders, including members from KIPP Foundation, the KIPP network, external partners, and donors.
• Drive Results: Execute and track progress towards milestones and goals and communicate these regularly with stakeholders. Collaborate with the K-8 Academic Team to develop the capacity in KIPP leaders and instructional coaches to effectively drive student achievement in K-4 literacy
• Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date and well-informed on research and development in early childhood and elementary literacy education and achievement, and proactively share this knowledge with KIPP’s leaders and teachers.

Experience And Qualifications

• Strong emphasis will be placed on this individual’s content knowledge of early literacy alongside a demonstrated track record in leading and managing major, complex efforts requiring strong process and project management as well as significant stakeholder engagement and management.

Additional Information

Location

We have offices in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., yet the location is flexible. This is a full-time, exempt position.
