New York Life is looking for an experienced, dynamic paralegal to support its IndexIQ Advisors exchange-traded fund (ETF) business. This is an exciting opportunity to grow in a firm with a history of financial strength and dynamic innovation and play an important role within New York Life’s growing ETF business. The paralegal will work directly and collaboratively with IndexIQ’s Chief Legal Officer and other key stakeholders as well as others in New York Life’s Office of the General Counsel to perform the duties listed below.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation, filing and distribution of ETF registration statements (prospectuses, summary prospectuses, statements of additional information) for new funds and annual updates and work on other periodic SEC, listing exchange, NFA and CFTC filings
• Assist with the drafting and revising of legal memos, corporate governance documents, contracts and amendments, resolutions and minutes
• Assist with the preparation and collection of materials for board meetings
• Draft and maintain timelines and project plans for ongoing projects
• Maintain files for legal and governance documents
• Interact with various business departments and attend meetings on behalf of the Office of the General Counsel

Required:

• BA or BS
• Minimum 4 years of paralegal experience with ETFs or mutual funds
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel and Adobe
• Strong organizational abilities and a commitment to continuous learning and development
• Experience with SEC EDGAR filings
• Excellent interpersonal and writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively and concisely
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on a timely basis
• Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team objectives
• Ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with other business departments
