Job Description Summary Set up, troubleshoot and operate computer numerically controlled machines and/or machining centers and related equipment. Perform multiple machining operations on various materials, as well as perform required dimensional and visual inspections. Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Proficiently setup, operate and learn to troubleshoot a variety of machining equipment per specified procedures.
Position non-preset and preset tooling in machine, position and adjust fixturing, and prepare ancillary equipment, in an expeditious manner.
Make preliminary dimensional and visual evaluations using various inspection tools, preparing the process for production.
Make offsets and evaluate cutting tool performance to meet specifications and control process variations.
Maintain accurate records of part dimensions, SPC charts and process events.
Interpret SPC charts and inspection reports to assess process performance and make appropriate changes.
Expeditiously setup and operate a combination of machining equipment within the facility.
Demonstrate the ability to consistently meet daily production goals while building a high quality product, part or subassembly to specification.
Read and understand parts program and alter simple instructions (eg offsets, and specified user controlled parameters as required per related process specifications).
Understand the concepts concerning Cartesian coordinates, speeds, feeds, depth of cut, etc.
Perform basic maintenance and routine housekeeping duties to the machines and associated equipment.
Report malfunctions of equipment and process deviations.
May periodically need to assist in orienting and training of others.
Maintain a neat, clean and a safe work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Ability to identify and perform adjustments to equipment, machines and devices within the limits of standard methods and procedures.
Must demonstrate a level of knowledge and competence to set up, operate and troubleshoot a combination of the following: CNC lathes, CNC mills, and/or related equipment, in a timely manner.
Understand SPC and utilize various measuring gages.
Ability to work from and read blueprints, follow operating procedures and complete required paperwork.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and assistance, as required.
Education and Experience:
Understanding of and competency in technology equivalent to 1-4 years of CNC machining experience, in a high volume micro-machining environment.
This includes all related mathematics, communication and physical skills, required to perform the duties encompassed in the position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Degree or Certification obtained through a technical institute specific to CNC Machining.
Physical Demands:
Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at machines or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of items (ie up to 30 lbs.).
Work Environment:
May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes, requiring some precaution. Some minor inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.).
