Communications and Brand Management
Corporate Communications manages strategic internal, external, and executive communications for Wells Fargo. The team delivers world-class communications counsel and content to stakeholders in ways that builds trust while protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation and culture.

Leading a team of approximately 75, with at least 7 direct reports, this newly created role will report to the Executive Vice President and Head of Communications and Brand Management. The role will oversee the centralization of visual storytelling, local/national/global and diverse media relations, proactive brand campaigns, and creative strategy, design, copywriting and video production capabilities. The role will also oversee the communication strategy for the Head of Technology, Head of Strategy, Digital & Innovation and the Head of Diverse Segments, Representation & Inclusion.
The Key Responsibilities
Work with leaders who oversee communications for technology, innovation, and DE&I, as well as Social Impact and Philanthropy and marketing to establish a strategic narrative and consistent outreach around modernizing the company and having a positive impact on our communities through sustained outreach to key target audiences in all of the diverse consumer and business segments the bank targets.
Oversee key centers of excellence (COE) to include Media Relations, Editorial Content and Editorial Services and enable the enterprise to build effective relationships with key national/global and diverse media that extend the reach of the company effectively delivering results in key markets including the U.S, India, Philippines, LatAm and Europe. These COE’s will augment the reach of vertical media experts in key lines of business and pitch on behalf of the organization to expand results by building relationships with a broader swath of media, staying abreast of editorial calendars, helping teams to shape effective media angles and fracturing the media to be able to extend the reach within key outlets. They will also manage an annual editorial calendar to help optimize media results across the enterprise.
Also, oversight of Regional Communicator COE to ensure that regional bank leaders are supported in local markets and that our regional communicators serve the enterprise by building local market media relationships and leveraging them on behalf of the enterprise.
Specific acumen in social media strategy, channel management and content creation for owned social channels including Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. The ability to interface with customer care and our brand team to implement a consistent voice and brand for our communications in editorial and social channels. Oversight of measurement of results and effectiveness of brand communications and social listening reports.
Oversee the editorial content COE to create the visual storytelling engine for the department with designers, producers, copywriters and videographers to effectively bring stories to life for social, print and broadcast channels . Ability to work with creative teams to effectively bring to life visual storytelling in all formats from editorial to short and long-from video to infographics, compelling animation and photography.
Work with communications leaders supporting OC executives across the enterprise to engage them in external storytelling opportunities to drive positive brand engagement and proactive communications on a daily basis. Liaise with the marketing research and analytics team to be accountable helping create positive stories to impact reputation metrics and shifts. Manage risk and regulatory issues effectively as we pursue pro-active media relations and storytelling.
Oversee performance of teams including objective setting, reviews, compensation, training, attracting and retaining top talent, personnel issues and reaching Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) goals.
Strong candidates will have extensive media relations experience, top tier media relationships, and have superlative story-telling acumen that can translate complex financial services issues into stories that resonate with and inspire people.
This leader will dive deep into business issues, understand how they are shaping and redefining the world we live in, the impact on how they affect Wells Fargo customers, and then explain these topics to top tier media in a way that enables them to write relatable, highly-informed, and accurate articles. They are motivated by a fast-paced, highly creative culture where the challenge of breaking new ground and redefining best practices is welcome and expected. In this role, the candidate will also have an opportunity to innovate new and interesting communications and influencer relations strategies.
