Apartment Therapy Media is looking for a Freelance Associate Branded Content Editor to join our Creative Studio! This person will help us create award-winning branded content for our two brands, Apartment Therapy and Kitchn. This contract position reports to our Creative Studio’s Managing Editor.

The Freelance Associate Branded Content Editor will develop branded content by working with our pool of freelance writers to interpret clients’ creative briefs into stories that our readers will find helpful and entertaining, and will then be responsible for packaging them for promotion. They will be the lead editor on some projects and will provide support to Creative Studio editors on others.

It’s important that our Freelance Associate Branded Content Editor works both independently (they will usher their projects through production) and collaboratively (the position requires constant, fluid communication with our Editorial, Audience Growth, and Sales teams). We in the Creative Studio pride ourselves on producing clear and cheerful writing that delights our readers while also delivering on our clients’ KPIs. This person will thrive in that middle ground-and will do it all on deadline.

Responsibilities:

• Extract a client’s marketing goals from a creative brief to create articles that entertain and instruct our readers in the home and cooking spaces
• Serve as both developmental and copy editor on sponsored posts and other projects that are written by our freelance writers
• Support Creative Studio editors on larger projects
• Package our work for each of our promotional platforms (namely Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, dedicated email, and on-site banner ads)
• Work with our pool of freelance writers: prepare smart briefs, provide helpful feedback, develop new talent
• Jump in as copywriter on small pieces (such as video supers, recipe instructions, creative concepts, etc.)
• Maintain a continually updating knowledge of industry trends and house style, and be able to change editorial voice accordingly
• Deliver every assignment on deadline

Experience/Skills:

• Minimum of 2+ years experience editing short narrative writing for a brand, agency, or publication
• Possesses a strong writer’s craft that can be shaped into a voice that is on-brand
• Highly skilled at copyediting
• Experience with managing freelancers and their workload
• Impeccably organized, attentive to detail, and skilled at managing multiple projects at once
• Experience with Wordpress or similar CMS preferred
• Enthusiasm and creativity to collaborate internally and externally
• Love our brands – know the excitement of finding the right paint color or mastering meal prep
