Job DescriptionOur Automation Electrical Engineering group is seeking an Engineering Technical Specialist who can apply his/her knowledge and skills in handling assignments which integrate mechanical and electrical concepts to solve problems. Significant time will be spent performing physical duties in Engineering Lab environment, building/modifying components and electrical assemblies, including wire harnesses, and interfacing with automated material handling vehicles. May function as an individual on isolated tasks or as a member of a team.JOB REQUIREMENTS: Evaluates prototype parts, designs, process, or procedures. Works in Engineering Lab environment to build prototype components/material handling vehicles, using hand and power tools. Sets-up and operates/drives test equipment, vehicles, prototypes, fixtures or product for standard tests as well as new and unusual tests. Performs tests per defined and undefined procedures. Assembles, repairs, and fabricates component assemblies, cables, and wire harnesses. Assembles material for new and non-routine tests. Conducts various tests or experiments which may require modifications in test set-ups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement. Tests products and equipment from verbal and written instructions, resolving routine questions and problems and some unusual questions and problems, referring more complex issues to higher levels. Interfaces with manufacturing engineering, procurement, and planning to create and / or obtain components for Engineering Lab support Reviews engineering documentation for accuracy in content and design. Records, organizes, and presents data. Occasionally will analyze and interpret data and make recommendations. May be required to process and report data following defined methods, including the use of spreadsheets, graphs, and formal written reports and oral presentations. Communicates results to other technicians, designers, engineers, managers, or manufacturing employees with an approach that supports and develops teamwork and the timely completion of projects. Performs other tasks as requested.The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams. Must have the ability to plan, organize, and carry out technical activities, as well as communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. RequirementsMust possess specialized knowledge of math and physics, or basic engineering principles. Proficiency with wire harness and cable assembly tools is desired.
