Work may be performed at company offices in Utica and Rome, NY, at the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) in Rome, NY, virtually, or in some mutually agreeable combination. It is expected that the candidate will spend 2-3 days per week at either our corporate offices or at local client locations. This expectation is flexible during pandemic times.

Responsibilities and Duties
This senior-level position will be a leading voice in Technergetics’ IoT development projects. IoT, or the Internet of Things, is the technology of connecting any device to the Internet and other connected devices, including smart sensors, phones, appliances, cameras, wearable technology, and cars. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing devices that transmit and receive data between networks from various machines and gadgets. This role is also responsible for creating and communicating the IoT concept, message, and architecture.
Successful candidates possess knowledge, skills, and abilities in Software and Hardware Architecture, Engineering, and Development, and can lead and participate throughout the Software and Hardware Development Lifecycle (Plan, Define, Design, Build, Test, Deploy).
Desired skills and duties include:
Extremely strong technical skills including software development lifecycle best practices
Experience in designing and developing IoT and wireless solutions with industry-leading technology
Keen awareness of commercial electrical engineering methodologies, practices, and emerging technologies
Ability to research, design, develop, and test information processing hardware such as computer systems, network systems, microprocessors, microcontrollers, microcomputers
Prototyping all phases of equipment from breadboard to finished design
Strong communications skills including reports, presentations, technical documentation, briefings, formal and informal discussions
Team building/Team leadership/Mentorship
Client relationship management
Participate in and have regular exposure to business stakeholder meetings, as well as company executive management, where it will be necessary to apply business analysis expertise and technical thought solutions to many projects and problems
Requirements generation and management
Quality assurance, testing, verification, validation
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture concepts and application
Education and Certifications:
Required: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or closely related technical field and 7 years of experience
Preferred: A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in in electrical engineering, electrical computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or closely related technical field and 5 years of experience
A candidate that meets DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification requirements is a plus
Broad Knowledge, Skills, and Experience in
Programming languages/environments such as
C, C++ , VHDL, Verilog
Small Form Factor Electronics Platforms, including Arduino and FPGAServer-side development and configuration
Networking and System interfaces
Security, Hardware, and Software Testing
IoT markets and technologies
Wireless communication technology and protocols, including LoraWAN, Dash7 (D7A), Bluetooth v5, ANT+
Prefer Additional Broad Knowledge, Skills, and Experience in
Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration
Agile Development Methodologies
Containerized deployments (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, et al)

This position requires approximately 5% travel to locations other than Technergetics facilities in Utica and Rome NY, and AFRL in Rome, NY.
