Job Title: Distinguished Engineer – Card Modernization

About the Role:
As a Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, you will be a part of our Card Modernization team. We are looking for individuals who are experts in their field and bring diverse perspectives to help us solve complex problems. Your contributions will have a significant impact on our technology solutions and shape the future of our organization. As a Distinguished Engineer, you will:

– Be a technical expert and thought leader, driving the adoption of best engineering practices and staying up to date with industry innovations and trends.
– Collaborate with others to solve challenging issues and deliver solutions that directly impact our customers and associates.
– Mentor and coach our engineering and product community, helping them strengthen their technical expertise.
– Act as an evangelist, both internally and externally, promoting the Distinguished Engineering community and becoming a go-to resource in your area of expertise.

Responsibilities:
– Increase awareness and knowledge of modern technologies, sharing their benefits to gain buy-in.
– Foster an inclusive environment where everyone’s ideas are heard and championed.
– Promote a culture of engineering excellence, encouraging the reuse and sharing of solutions.
– Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
– Act as a trusted advisor for a specific technology or capability domain.
– Mentor internal talent and actively recruit external talent to strengthen our technical capabilities.

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree
– At least 7 years of experience in software engineering
– At least 5 years of experience in systems architecture
– Master’s Degree (preferred)
– 9+ years of software engineering experience (preferred)
– 5+ years of experience designing cloud native applications in AWS (preferred)
– 5+ years of experience in cloud resiliency and distributed computing (preferred)

Salary:
– New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $269,400 – $307,500 for Distinguished Engineer
– San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $285,400 – $325,700 for Distinguished Engineer
