Job Title: Distinguished Applied Researcher

As a Distinguished Applied Researcher, you will help us bring the transformative power of emerging AI capabilities to reimagine how we serve our customers and businesses.

Team Description:
The AI Foundations team is at the center of bringing our vision for AI at Capital One to life. We work with product, technology, and business leaders to apply AI to our business and partner with academia to push the boundaries of AI research.

Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how customers interact with their money.
– Use various technologies such as Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, and more to analyze large volumes of data and uncover valuable insights.
– Build AI foundation models from design to implementation.
– Conduct high-impact applied research to improve customer experiences.
– Communicate complex work in a simple and business-oriented way.

Qualifications:
– PhD in Applied Research or MS with relevant experience.
– Proficiency in open-source languages and experience developing AI models using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms.
– Deep understanding of AI methodologies and experience building large-scale deep learning models.
– Strong engineering mindset and experience delivering models at scale.
– Demonstrated ability to come up with innovative ideas in machine learning.

Additional Qualifications (Preferred):
– PhD in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Applied Mathematics.
– Experience in specific areas such as Natural Language Processing or Behavioral Models.
– Strong track record of publications or projects in machine learning.
– Ability to independently pursue research projects.

Salary Range:
– New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $322,000 – $367,500 for Distinguished Applied Researcher
– San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $341,200 – $389,400 for Distinguished Applied Researcher
