The Opportunity: Uphold is looking for a Director, Taxation & Regulatory Reporting to join our global Finance and Accounting team. This is primarily a tax position with responsibility for the overall management of the tax function within our company. In addition, there will be some regulatory reporting requirements.
This position is Full-Time, and reports to the Chief Financial officer (CFO). This is a hybrid position, onsite 2 times per week at our New York office.
What you’ll be doing primarily:
Prepare tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and consolidating provision schedules including domestic and international subsidiaries.
Recommend tax strategies by researching international, federal, state, and local taxation issues.
Maintain legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised laws.
Maintain compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities.
Responsible for international tax matters including VAT and international business taxes.
Responsible for ensuring transfer pricing and expense sharing appropriate and applied in accordance with relevant tax rules.
Manage external consulting firms in the preparation and review of the US and international tax returns, and estimated tax payments.
Prepare or review journal entries.
Oversee US Regulatory financial reporting and work with other regions
Check over certain quarterly regulatory filings completed by others
Complete any special projects requested by management.
Strong organization and follow-up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
International Tax experience with a public accounting firm (6-10 years) strongly preferred
Tax preparation experience
Knowledge of US and international business and sales taxes (including VAT in Europe)
CPA license a plus
Master’s degree a plus
Experience with bookkeeping software, including NetSuite
Attention to detail
Fluent written and oral English Skills
Bonus if you have:
Experience with capital markets, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain technologies.
In-depth knowledge of banking frameworks and payment methods.

Salary Range: $125,000 – $170,000 DOE
