Duco
Do you like playing old tunes? Or would you prefer to write a new symphony?
If you hanker for a role where you get to define the market strategy, build the client base and see the direct success of your own efforts, we may have the perfect opportunity for you.
The role:
We help companies solve their most complex data problems with our uniquely fast and easy-to-use software. Simple, and a great platform to sell from. Our customers already include many of the world’s top financial institutions, and we’re growing fast. We’re also backed by some of the best software investors in the world.
We’re now seeking to expand our success into the insurance sector. We have undertaken a strategic assessment of this market – even won a few initial customers – and we believe this is a HUGE growth area for us, just waiting to be tapped.
So, we’re looking for a talented Business Development Director with extensive knowledge of the insurance market (underwriting, reinsurance, investment operations and broking, software systems and information data flows), and the passion to open up new opportunities.
You’ll be responsible for leading our business development approach, working closely with senior colleagues across several different teams. You’ll be reporting directly to the Global Head of Sales and Marketing, and working alongside an Insurance Solutions Engineer.
Our initial focus for this role will be the North American market (excluding health care). However, we also want to develop a European and Asian strategy as soon as possible.
Day to day, this is what you’ll be doing:
What’s Duco like to work for?
Well, if you check out our Glassdoor reviews you’ll see that 86% of our people recommend us an employer, and 92% approve of the CEO. Why?
It’s mainly because of our culture, and the way we treat our employees. We offer empowerment, not micromanagement. We actively look after everyone’s wellbeing, and we offer lots of flexibility to help people balance their home and work commitments. We communicate openly and honestly, whether the news is good or bad, and we treat everyone – no matter how junior or senior – like the intelligent and talented adults they are.
We currently have around 140 employees based at our offices in London, Edinburgh, New York, Singapore and Poland. Most of our people are currently working from home due to COVID, and it looks like many will want to continue doing this in future. Which is fine with us.
The compensation package:
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
We’d prefer you to be located on the East Coast (for time zone management) but we’re open to other locations in the US.
Please note you must have insurance sector experience for this role. Please don’t apply if you don’t have this, because we won’t be able to accept your application.
Just so you know, our hiring process usually has three stages: an initial video call interview, a technical test (we may ask you to write a short proposal or presentation, for example), and a final longer interview, usually with a couple of senior managers.
