PURPOSE

As a Crop Consultant at Central Valley Ag, you will be responsible for scouting and agronomy management of contracted acres.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Scout fields throughout the growing season for insects, diseases, fertility, plant populations, irrigation scheduling, etc.
• Diagnose and report agronomy issues throughout the growing season.
• Performs leaf tissue sampling.
• Performs soil sampling (grid, composite and deep nitrate).
• Recommends proper timing of in-season fertilizer, insecticide, fungicide, and foliar product application.
• Assists with crop budgeting.
• Provides assistance with crop planning.
• Executes customer equipment calibrations.
• Performs compaction testing.
• Performs the following duties for Advanced Cropping Systems:
• Works with ACS Managers to effectively and efficiently collect field data.
• Performs all types of soil sampling.
• Executes Veris EC mapping.
• Provides yield monitor calibrations and support.
• Performs harvest data collection and mapping.
• Implements irrigation management plans.
• Performs data management.
• Assists with Precision Ag equipment support.
• Does data processing.
• Works with all types of new and emerging technologies.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two or four year college degree in Agronomy or an Ag related field and two seasons of field scouting experience required.
• Certified Crop Advisor or ability to be certified within 2 years.
• Knowledge of GIS programs for data processing and equipment diagnostics.
• Valid driver s license.
• Ability to read and use a wiring and/or hydraulic diagram.
• Integrity and good judgment skills required.
• Excellent computer skills and must be experienced MS Office Products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Be detail oriented.
• Adapt and positively influence CVA s Safety culture.
• Must be able to work independently.
