The Hartford is seeking an experienced Cloud Operations Engineer to join the Cloud Transformation & Enablement team. This role will influence and champion technical decisions to enable The Hartford’s technology transformation.

This is a technical position that requires 3+ years of industry experience. An understanding for how businesses conduct operations in the cloud is necessary. The right candidate should be passionate for engineering- anything from simple solutions to complex problems to manage cloud operations in support of our enterprise usage of AWS cloud services. This role will be accountable for helping us administrate, manage and optimize our AWS resource usage, costs and adoption at the Enterprise level.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Working closely with the Cloud Enablement and Cloud Product Owners to ensure a successful and optimal utilization of AWS cloud resources.
• Accountable for the engineering and implementation of automating our compliance and security controls while empowering development teams
• Accountable for how teams can define their own security roles and policies without compromising our overall risk posture
• Accountable for the validation and verification of the designs proposed for new cloud implementations.
• Strive for greatness and challenge the status-quo.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related degree and 3+ years of cloud account administration, compliance and security experience on AWS
• Establishing the service control policies and guard rails
• Focus on action, shipping mindset and iterative deployment practices
• Working with agile development teams, methodologies and toolsets
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience:

• Exposure to AWS cross-account costing mechanisms and resource optimization
• Experience with AWS IAM policies and automation tooling
• Experience with AWS security, IAM and policy creation
