About the Role: Steven Winter Associates, Inc. (SWA) is seeking a Passive House (PH) Field Verifier for its growing High Performance Building Solutions team. This position will ensure that buildings meet energy efficiency and sustainability standards, and it will play an important role in conducting on-site inspections, testing and verification to certify that construction practices align with PH principles.
We are seeking candidates with experience in coordinating and problem-solving collaboratively with construction teams, architects, and engineers. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, both in face-to-face interactions in the field and through progress reports. Applicants certified in International, or U.S. PH standards are encouraged to apply.
The proposed annual salary range for this position is $70,000 – $95,000 based on a 40-hour work schedule. The final salary may vary depending on confirmed job-related skills and experience.
Building Systems Consultant / Field Verifier Primary Responsibilities: The role requires someone who can take initiative and work independently, both in a group environment and in the field at construction sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is often required to stand while at project sites. The employee may be required to lift or move objects up to 35 pounds.
There will be occasional long days on construction sites for performance testing (e.g. blower door) which can be physically demanding. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional overnight travel may be required (Less than 10%). Frequent local field visits in the NYC Metro area will be necessary (estimated at 60%). A valid and clean U.S. driver’s license is required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This role involves a combination of office and fieldwork. Most duties will be conducted in a construction or field environment, requiring trips to active construction sites for observation, training, and testing.
