Assistant Controller

prominent non-profit organization is currently seeking an Assistant Controller with 5+ years’ experience, here in New York City. The role will be reporting directly to the Controller who is seeking someone who is able to lead the month end close, prepare the financial reports, managed Accounts Payable and oversee several of there local, state and federal grants.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month end close and prepare the financial reporting package
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare and managed the fixed assets schedule
• Assist in the preparing the annual audit
• Liaison with funding sources and different programs on grant and contract matters
• Review and update budgets in relation to grant and contract activity
• Prepare and assist management in preparing grants and contracts
• Conduct ad-hoc report requests to assist the finance and accounting team
• Prepare schedules for the annual audits and IRS Form 990.
• Support the Controller in managing the day-to-day activities of the department, and cross-functional project.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification preferred.
• A minimum of (5) years experience overseeing accounts payable, financial management, accounting, and reporting functions for large, preferably nonprofit organizations.
• Ability to read, interpret, and perform assigned duties relating to complex rules, regulations and applications of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
