Job Description

Title: Manager, Data Engineering (Python, AWS, Airflow, Snowflake) (Hybrid – Remote and On-site)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States of America

We are seeking dedicated individuals from diverse backgrounds to join our team of passionate data engineers at Capital One. Together, we will create innovative data products and capabilities that shape Capital One’s future.

Responsibilities:
– Build data pipeline frameworks to automate the delivery of high-volume and real-time data.
– Develop data APIs and delivery services to support critical operational and analytical applications.
– Transform complex analytical models into scalable, production-ready solutions.
– Continuously integrate and deploy code into on-premise and cloud environments.
– Develop applications using modern technologies like Python, Scala, Spark, Postgres, AngularJS, and NoSQL.
– Collaborate with Product Owners and customers to deliver data products in an agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Master’s Degree and 7+ years of application development experience (Python, SQL, Scala, or Java).
– 4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
– 4+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL).
– 4+ years of experience with real-time data and streaming applications.
– 4+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation (Mongo, Cassandra).
– 4+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake).
– 4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux and shell scripting.
– 4+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices.

Basic Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree.
– At least 6 years of application development experience.
– At least 2 years of experience with big data technologies.
– At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
– At least 2 years of people management experience.

Salary Range: $197,400 – $225,300 (New York City, Hybrid On-Site)
